Kosong Studio is an independent creative and multimedia design studio based in Kuching, Malaysia. It was born out of a desire to create work that is intentional, thoughtful, and adaptable. From branding to motion, from editorial layouts to web experiences, every project is approached with care, clarity, and purpose.

The studio explores ideas across visual mediums, bringing together motion, sound, and design into cohesive experiences that communicate clearly and leave room for meaning. The studio is led by Akmal Ghazali, a Malaysian indie creative who designs, animates, and tells stories visually. Every project is handled personally, giving clients a direct connection to the designer behind the ideas.

‘Kosong’ means “empty” or “nothing” in Malay. The name reflects the studio’s beginnings, which started with practically nothing: just a beat-up laptop, a rented room, and a handful of pirated software.

This idea of “starting from nothing” became a guiding philosophy. Kosong Studio embraces adaptability, minimalism, and space, valuing clarity over clutter, intention over decoration, and visual systems that leave room for meaning. The studio does not strictly adhere to a single style but always maintains a clear identity.
